viewer desktop is smeared

hi all.
i am still having a problem with vnc.
my viewer's screen is much of the time unreadable.
lest i do a ninimize-restore on the window.
i tried playing around with the checkboxes on winvnc.
but none of those seem to give a clean picture.
has anyone else experienced this problem?
please help me.
