Ways to speed up remote display on AIX CDE ?

Anybody got any tips on how to speed up the remote display using CDE on AIX?

I get serious artifacts and a terrible refresh rate...This is on a switched
16 Mbps Token-ring network, which 
*should* be fast enough. (Exceed is extremely fast on the same network, but
it does some tuning by itself)
