Or...  here's a suggestion, it might not work.  Set the Registry, change
the resolution, wait a few seconds for everything to settle down.  Then
change the Registry back to the original.  This makes it crash-resistant to
a greater degree and saves modifying startup files (a Bad Idea in my book).
