I find no /.vnc/xstartup file and have no knowledge to use -query localhost.

Please Please expand.

Yes.

Open your /.vnc/xstartup file and change the twm to dtwm

this will open the standard dt desktop.

Better yet use the -query localhost option to display the dtlogin screen.

Can anyone suggest a way to determine why vncviewer on Win2k connects to my
Solaris 7 Ultra5 but only displays a grey screen with a cursor?

I have searched and read the archives but am still getting frustrated.

I am certainly not a Solaris expert!!!
