I have found and downloaded a binary ppc rpm for Xvnc/vncviewer, which work
fine on both YellowDog Linux and LinuxPPC 2000.

please note however that both of these are RedHat derivatives, and both are
"current" glibc versions....

can't help with any of the compile probs, since I downloaded the binary.
