Running X on localhost using VNC

It sounds like you need to copy your settings from the startx script into
the vncserver script family. I can't remember how to do this, but I'm sure
people on this list can enlighten you. (this should be an FAQ, if it isn't
already)
To run a vncviewer on localhost, you need to know the display number of the
Xvnc server. Normally, you would start it on display :1 rather than :0
(which is the default for a hardware-based X server). Then your hardware
server can run vncviewer in full-screen mode (possibly even without KDE
running on it as well) and connect to localhost:1.
