VNC and KDM on Mandrake 7

Yes, I made sure there was no other Xvnc binary on the machine... and I
called Xvnc directly, without going through search paths. It didn't
recognize the -inetd switch.

try to locate Xvnc (ie "whereis Xvnc") i suspect that the compil and
install you made put a new Xvnc but the old Xvnc is still there and has a
higher priority in the path searching.
in the build directory try to launch "./Xvnc -inetd" : doest it complains
about "unrecognized -inetd option" or not ?
by the way have you modified the /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/services file as
you should have done it ? (it is explained in iXvnc pages)
