Are you using the default display number ? or a different one ? Basically,
the port for the browser is http://vncserver:5800 for display 0 (default) or
for say display 7 it would be http://vncserver:5807

Are you *sure* you are using port 5800?
It is *very* common for beginners to use 5900 which is the port used by the
VNC viewer.
