Connecting to Computers on network...Macs/Pc's

You can manually add DNS entries for the machines.

I am looking for a way to connect to the macintosh computers on my network
via a "computer name" like a pc ... I can connect to the PC's with the
Computer name "set in Network settings... but cant seem to find a Mac
Equivalent... BTW we are using DHCP...
