Yup, definitely sounds like a beta-3 bug - thanks for reporting it.
Meanwhile, I run VNC beta-2.2 on my 8100 with few problems - although as I
only got the 8100 recently I haven't really tested it very fully yet. I
will say that beta-2.2 isn't totally rock-solid on NuBus PowerMacs (this is
an internal implementation thing) but it seems to work OK. The stability
actually does vary between machines - my PowerBook 5300 is almost totally
unusable under VNC, mostly because it keeps crashing in weird places (I
know why it does it, but the fix is non-trivial).

The URL for beta-2.2 is in my signature. Do feel free to try it out, but
you might see some weirdness regarding preferences - the beta-3 and
beta-2.2 Servers share a prefs file and use slightly different formats for
each. So make sure to set up the prefs properly every time you swap
between them :).

Oh yes, and I'm working hard on the next update to the beta-2.x series,
which will be quite a significant upgrade (i hope). I might even have
fixed the NuBus problem by then, and significant performance improvements
are certainly to be had on all machines. I'll keep you all posted.
