In general I second that.  However, I do recall someone mentioning that if
the icon was visible users would know it was there and kill the process.
In which case, I would suggest remotely starting it up again, or having
some scheduler process automatically restart it, or simply hurt the guy for
killing something which they shouldn't...

There is an answer for everything, if you consider it closely enough - and
once again I strongly reccommend the "go get the code and modify it
yourself" strategy.
