Strange problem with WinVNC 3.3.3r2

Oh, well, what I mean is when I do "telnet kayseri.ods.org xxx", where xxx
is any port number, the Unix machine goes "Trying..." and then just gives me
the message "Connection refused" or something like that for most of my
ports... For ports between 5500 and 7777 I get stuck at the "Trying..."
stage until I get a "cannot reach host" message.. This behaviour is the same
even if I put a port listener on a specific port of my machine in that range
so that there actually is something there for me to connect to remotely...
I am really confused... I really cannot imagine how or why this can
happen...
