VNC on NT4 SP6a-Connection Dropped

When running a VNC 3.3.3r2 session on NT4 ServicePack 6a, I occasionally lose the VNC control window and am unable to immediately re-VNC to the server I was controlling.  I also lose ping to the server for a variable period from ~3-180 seconds.  Without intervention, 
when the server can be pinged again, VNC can be reestablished (naturally). Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.
