mailing list split (was: setup.exe)

I don't know how many of you are on other mailing lists, but from the
complaining that I've heard, I'd guess that the vnc-list is young and the
people on it are fairly new to mailing lists.

Most of the technical lists that I've ever been on (unix, linux, windows,
exchange) have all suffered from many of the problems that this list is
having.

I think it's a good idea to split the list into different OS's: vnc-*nix,
vnc-win, vnc-mac, vnc-java and a vnc-general (or something to that effect).

The idea of having a list for beginners and a list for advanced admins is
far fetched and won't work. Most people that are ladmins don't know that
they are ladmins and would sign up for the advanced list anyway. You'll be
saying things like "read the faq" on the advanced list anyway.

Perhaps having a link to the faq in the footer is a good idea. But, as seen
on the Swynk Exchange list, people will still ask how to find the faq. ;-)

Chip's idea of having a list of dos and don'ts is a good idea. People will
still ignore it (or won't be able to understand it) anyway.
