I can see how VNC could be useful as an addition to monitoring the
phone call, but in that case, I can't see any reason why the person
being monitored should *not* know that they are.
I'd say, use VNC for the purpose of ensuring quality Customer
Service, and rely on logging for monitoring web and email usage.
Given this approach, the taskbar icon issue shouldn't be an issue at
all.

Well, this is a totally unrelated thing, and not even a technical
issue, but if I were in your IS department, I'd want to be doing a lot
of talking to the "boys" in charge of the Internet connection. :)
