sygate port obstruction

I am unable to connect to a vnc server on a sygate proxy server running
nt4wks via the internet. The sygate has enhanced security enabled, which is
supposed to close ports greater than 5000. So I enabled the vnc to use 4900.
Still no luck connecting. The IP of the server is alive, but running a port
scan shows 5900 & 4900 closed , as well as most others. How can I enable a
specific port to let the vnc server connect with the viewer.?
The server responds to a vnc viewer behind the firewall.
