Can't start 1st video screen

Can anyone explain why I am getting this error message?  The 'Xvnc'
process is NOT running, but I suspect that something was left behind
from a machine re-boot.  I have read and re-read the web site but
haven't found the answer.

[root "at" xxxxx /root]# vncserver -kill :1

Can't find file /root/.vnc/xxxxx.yyyyy.zzz:1.pid
You'll have to kill the Xvnc process manually
