File Transfer

I assume you want to stay "free":

If you're a windows shop and are connecting to systems over a local area
network, you could just bring up their drives directly -- (i.e. Start -> Run
-> \\10.0.0.1\c$ to bring up the C drive on a remote NT system.)  You need
to be in the administrator's group of the remote machine to do so.  

You could also set up a public shared folder on your own system with rights
to Everyone.  Then you could VNC a remote system, bring up your shared
public folder, and copy the files to the remote system.

If your system is on a different network than the remote system, you could
set up a FTP server on your machine, and open up the FTP client on the
remote machine, and transfer the files.  This would accomplish the same
thing as the above suggestion, but be more difficult to implement/explain to
a novice.

Netmeeting can also send files, but the files are placed in a defined
received folder and would have to be moved after being transferred.

I am probably missing an elegant solution, as I typically just use the c$
trick because  we're basically a NT shop at my work.

If you're willing to pay money:

PC Anywhere has all the functionality of VNC plus it can do file transfers,
scripting, and more.  But it costs $$.
