Problem using VNC with Windows 98

Hi, 

A friend of mine is having trouble using VNC from a Win98 machine, as
described below:

VNC version 3.3.3R7
Windows 98

Problem:  When the VNC viewer is started, a window displaying the current
screen of the computer running the server is displayed only to disappear at
the move of the mouse  or in about eight seconds if the mouse is not moved.
If an attempt to re-start the viewer is tried, a "connection closed" error
is displayed.  Only after 15 minutes can one start the viewer again only to
encounter the same problems again.
