Did you implement the zlib compression as a new encoding?  If so, which
number (value) did you use?  I think everyone working on zlib
compression
as an encoding should make their stuff work together.  Did you limit the
compression to the screen update data?  Or are you compressing the
entire
protocol stream in one or both directions?

What have others done on these issues?  I recall someone posting that
only
the screen update data really needs to be compressed.  However, I have
not heard anything about how others are keeping the new zlib enabled
viewers and servers compatible with the existing versions.
