Puzzling VNC client problem

I've been experiencing a similar situation to one reported on the list a few
days ago, relating to a failed connection with a T_DISCONNECT message. I've
noticed that whenever my PC (NT 4.0) is rebooted (which happens often ;-(),
the VNC password seems to not be recognized. I have it set up so that the
VNC server runs as a service, and starts at a restart.
The workaround is to delete the password and overwrite it, apply and close.
That normally gets rid of the problem. Of course if you're not at your local
(server) machine to do this, trying to connect remotely will not work...
Seems to be a bug in VNC server 3.3.3r2, but not sure if it's a problem in
3.3.3r7.
Point is, it may not be a problem on the connecting client (viewer) side, as
was alluded to in one of the replies. I've confirmed this by connecting from
a Mac, PC, and UNIX client with the same results.
