Deneba Canvas Beta

I have been trying out the Canvas 7 beta program. It has been ported over to
Linux using Wine.
I am using Windows 98 as a client, Linux as the server, and the latest
versions of VNC.
Canvas is not displayed properly on the VNC viewer. The toolbars and menus
are OK, but the workspace is black, instead of white. It makes the program
unusable.
It works fine using a standard X display.

Any ideas
