I'm reporting a bug in VNC Viewer PPC beta 3 (100100d) on the Mac.
The viewer tracks to mouse motions when it should not. For example, the
viewer tracks the mouse even when it isn't the foreground application. On a
Mac, the keyboard & mouse focus should belong to the foreground application.
VNC isn't following that rule.
This can have unpleasant consequences.
To demonstrate:
- Use the VNC viewer to connect to some VNC server.
- Leaving the VNC window open, switch to the Finder.
- Open the Finder's "About this computer" window. Drag it over the VNC
desktop.
- Move the mouse within this Finder window. Note that VNC is furtively
tracking the mouse and sending mouse motion over the wire.
- Click and drag within the Finder's window. Normally, this should have
no effect. But note that VNC is tracking all of this mouse activity,
thus activating menus and selecting text on the remote desktop!
This can have unpleasant consequences.
The VNC Viewer is running on this host:
