Yes, this is the correct location for xauth. This is historical with Sun
as OpenWindows (Suns X-Server and OpenLook GUI) resided in /usr/openwin.
I used a script "do_vnc_server" where I set up neccessary environment
variables for vncserver to work on Solaris - Would also be neccessary on
SunOS.
If you implement the changes from my earlier posting you should get Xvnc
to start, however the first time you run "do_vnc_server", do so from a
shell as you will be prompted for a password, this is the authorization
password the viewer will need to send.
If you wan't to get it to start and connect to an XDM server, make the
change in "vncserver" and change "-query localhost" to "-query xdmserver".
I suspect that you having to make the HASGCC entry in
/usr/openwin/lib/config suggests you have applied the zlib patches. When I
applied the zlib patches I couldn't get Xvnc to build until I too had made
this change.
Try out the suggestion I made in my earlier posting with attention to
"-fp" and "-query" and let me know who it goes.
The only other quirk was to set Xvnc set-uid.
Good luck,
Larry.
