Hi....
Im wondering.... Ive been on this group for 10 days now, and (including my
request) this is about the 5 or 6 question about this problem or wish.
Cant this info be posted better on the web-page.
Is it illigal (for us normal users) to post a recompiled version of the
program without the system tray icon for download on a independant site.
Regards from a (very) happy user

See: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/winvnc.html
section: "WinVNC - Advanced Settings"
Here's what I did on an NT4 machine to test it out:
Added registry entries (both DWORDs set to 0)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\Default\AllowProperties
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\Default\AllowShutdown
-----------------------------------------------
Read the Faq's for more on this. VNC should be running as a service. There
are registry settings so that they cannot change the properties or Close
the
service. Here is an example of the registry settings:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\Default]
"SocketConnect"=dword:00000001
"AutoPortSelect"=dword:00000001
"InputsEnabled"=dword:00000001
"Password"=hex:xx,xx,xx,xx,xx,xx,xx,xx
"PollUnderCursor"=dword:00000001
"PollForeground"=dword:00000001
"PollFullScreen"=dword:00000000
"OnlyPollConsole"=dword:00000000
"OnlyPollOnEvent"=dword:00000000
"PortNumber"=dword:00002710
"AllowProperties"=dword:00000000
"AllowShutdown"=dword:00000001
-------------------------------------------------
also, if you are running on NT and don't want the system tray icon to
appear, remove this registry entry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\WinVNC "C:\program
files\orl\vnc\winvnc -servicehelper"
also if you are running on NT you may want to use REGEDT32 to lock down the
registry section at the bottom of this page.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default]
for your win95 users you can put something in the login script that puts
the
registry back the way you want it every time they log in.
example: regedit /s "winvnc.reg"
