VNC server for Mac problems

Hi,
I've got a Linux box and a PowerBook G3 on my desk and want to share
the (desktop) keyboard and mouse between them. So when I found x2vnc
I was ecstatic. It seems to work really well, but with a couple of
exceptions...
Both of these problems happen with the real "vncviewer" as well. I'm
using the latest VNC server downloaded from the testing page.
1. Sometimes I can't connect the first time, or alternate times; with
'vncviewer', this problem manifests itself as displaying a blank
screen, or only about 15-25% of the initial screen before stopping.
Reconnecting always succeeds.
2. Certain keys don't work. For example, any control- combination
doesn't work. I can't get option-keys to work either, it would seem
that the Windows key on the keyboard is in the same place as option,
so I'd be happy if it worked. Also, typing * (shift-8) doesn't work.
For these problems, should I be looking at the viewer or server? I'm
not a Mac programmer but I can certainly do some work to
troubleshoot. Of course, if anyone else has solutions to these
problems, I'd be glad to hear them. :-)
Thanks,
