I understand your concerns. However, the point does remain that there is a
piece of software that does this quite well: it's call PCAnywhere. I have
used PCAnywhere a bit, and I know that as soon as a user connect, it gets
rid of the background. I don't know how it handles crashes, disconnects,
etc, but my point is, it can be done, and gracefully.
