Noise on the vnc-list : suggestion

But Jean-Marie is suggesting that dialogue *not of general
interest* take place offline *with summary posted to the list*
(hmm, sorry, seems I clipped that part out of my original
reply), in order to avoid clogging the list with the same questions
over and over again as has been happening recently. I can't
see how that is anything but a boon. Is it really that much
effort to hit "reply all" instead of "reply" when you want
to reply to the list?

What makes more work for the more knowledgable list members
is the fact that apparently no one reads the FAQ, or
searches the list archive. Another suggestion: include prominent
links to the FAQ and archive pages in the auto-footer attached
to each message, as well as - or instead of - the current link
to the "intouch" page (if someone is getting these messages
they've obviously figured out how to subscribe to the list,
so the "intouch" link seems a bit redundant).

Jean-Marie's suggestion will also make archive searches
a lot more useful, because you won't have to wade through
99-dozen "try this/sorry didn't work/ok try this instead"
responses before finding the message containing the right
answer to their query.
