java.net NoRouteToHostException: Host unreachable

How does one get around an annoying firewall?  i.e. I have vncserver
running on a unix machine; however, one of the system users cannot seem to
log in using a Java capable browser from his workplace.  The error reads:

java.net NoRouteToHostException: Host unreachable

None of the other users have complained of this and I know the network
firewall on the server end will allow 58xx and 59xx.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
