Accessing desktop from Windows

Hello,
I'm a newbie to VNC, so please accept my advance apologies if I say
anything really stupid :-)
Anyway, after downloading VNC the other day (well downloading ages ago
and finally getting down to reading the docs the other day!) I think it
may be exactly what I am looking for.
Basically - to sum up - my prefered desktop computer is an Acorn RiscPC
(running RiscOS 3.7) I have downloaded the VNCserver for this OS and
also the viewer for Windows 9x/NT (which is what I have to use during
the day at Uni). Ideally I want to be able to leave my RiscPC turned on
all day and access it from the Windows based PC's at Uni, essential
using the PC at Uni just to provide the keyboard and screen. Have I
correctly understood the documentation - is this what VNC allows me to
do?
My question is whether anyone else out there does such a similar thing
and/or whether they or anyone else can help me on how to set everything
up (my computer in my room will be connected to the university network,
like all the ones in the University computer centre).
Yours sincerely,
And thanks in advance,
Ryan
