Viewer Problem (Error Reading Protocol Version)

I am running my server on port 443 and cannot connect from my work computer.
I have connected from other computers to my server, so I know the problem is
on the client end.  Here is what I get in the log file:

Started and Winsock (v 2) initialised
bufsize expanded to 4352
Registered connection with app
Connected to ##.##.###.### port 443
  reading 12 bytes
Error reading protocol version: àz@
Deregistered connection from app
Exiting
VNC viewer closing down


I would appreciate any help.
