Thanks for patience with the FAQ -- it works around OK. 

In case this helps anyone -- in WindowMaker I start xcutsel, dock the 
appicon, rightclick, and select the options to make xcutsel start 
when WindowMaker does, to be omnipresent across workspaces, to have 
no title- or resizebar, to have a pretty icon, and paste the 
following line into the "Application" dialog: 

xcutsel -xrm '*quit.borderWidth:0' -xrm '*quit.height: 1' -xrm 
'*quit.label:' -xrm '*sel-cut.label: From "Selection"' -xrm '*cut-
sel.label: Into "Selection"' -xrm '*font: -dec-terminal-bold-r-normal-
*-*-140-*-*-c-*-iso8859-1'
