The value is binary. There is no way using .adm-files to write binary =
values
to the registry, only strings and dwords are possible. Maybe it works, =
when
you modify the ntconfig.pol manually: Using regedt32 you can load
ntconfig.pol as a hive. If this doesn't work, you will have to set the
passwords by the login script.

Hi,
=20
I am trying to use Windows System Policy Editor to change VNC passwords =
for
all users.
=20
The Registry says that the value
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\password is a Binary value, =
though it
looks more like hexidecimal to me. Anyway, I can create an ADM file =
that
references the value correctly, and I can use it to look and see what =
the
value is. It does not give the password in plain text of course, but I =
can
look at the registry and confirm that it is correct. However when I =
try to
change the value, it changes the binary value "Password" to a string =
value
and the next time I logon, there is no valid password enabled. I =
assume
this is because I am using the EDITTEXT command in the ADM file, but =
I'm not
sure what else to use. Is there a way to edit this value in system =
policy
editor?

Here is the part of the ADM file that refers to VNC.
=20
CATEGORY "VNC"
KEYNAME "Software\ORL\WinVNC3"
POLICY "Settings"
PART "Password" EDITTEXT
VALUENAME Password
END PART
END POLICY
END CATEGORY ; VNC

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
