VNC replacing Terminal Server?

That's interesting Andre. At the moment I'm connected to three NT servers
using VncMonitor via VNC server and the system load on the viewer machine
(also an NT box) and the servers is pretty much identical to the load
without the proxy. The proxy is running on the same machine as the viewer if
this were not so then the network traffic due to Vnc would be higher.

The WinVnc servers have their "out of the box" configuration.

Email me when you start this project again and I'll see if I can help.

Hi
We've done some testing here about this.

We had 3 NT Workstations with VNC Server service

First we´ve tried the front-end aproach something like a proxy that
connects to all the servers and then waits for clients.

Because there were major performance problems we then developed another
solution, based only on a special UNIX vnc viewer.
This UNIX Vnc Viewer had several features:

- Receives on the command line a set of servers a try to connect
to each one until a connection is accepted.

- An inactivity timeout is defined to avoid that users keep connected
while not using the server.

- Some other minior enhancements related to scroll-bars and push
buttons to allow sending alt-ctrl-del.

The main problem is performance, but i think that is related with
WinVNC server and it's configuration.
For the moment this is suspended around here because i don'n have
any available machines.
Of course all these requires a specific configuration on WinVNC
server, for instance:

- When a connection ends the NT users is logged out.
- When a connection is active further connection are refused.
- ...
