Mac OS (to X desktop) issues.

Hi.

This is my first post, so please be kind to me :)

I discovered VNC a little while ago, and I'm now using it on my server
(with X) and <-> my Mac OS desktop. I find it to be a really amazing
project, and I see alot of useful appliances for it, beside the
technical amazement that struck me upon first using it.

Now, I have a few problems that I haven't been able to figure out
myself. I searched through the mailing-list archives and checked the FAQ
but couldn't find an answer.

When using the client on my Mac to access an X session on the Linux box
beside me I am not able to get more than 256 colours, 8 bpp. I do get
24bpp when accessing the Mac desktop from the X box. I tried playing
around with the -cc x stuff but with no results. So my question is, how
would I get 24 bpp with the Mac client (while accessing an X desktop - I
did get 24bpp when I accessed a friends Mac OS desktop)?

I'm also curious as to how one can get the desktop to display at 640x480
(or whatever) instead of defaulting to what you have on the client side?

PS. No, I didn't enable "Allow only 8 bit encoding" DS.

Cheers, Petter Sundlöf
