Hi all,

I'm attempting to compile and install VNC 3.3.3 on an AIX 4.1.4 machine.
It hasn't been pretty, and I'm getting closer, but I need some help with my
last few hurdles.

I'm using the patches that Chuck Hines produced, and everything appears to
have compiled. Upon running the vncserver command, the following errors
appear in my logfile:

	24/11/99 08:48:13 Xvnc version 3.3.XvncRelease
	24/11/99 08:48:13 Copyright (C) 1999 AT&T Laboratories Cambridge.

I've tried the various things mentioned in the FAQ and looked through this
lists's archives, but ...

Xvnc appears to still be running, as suggested in the FAQ:

	pdx206 19 /fs13/comp.apps.1/vnc/bin> ps axugwww | grep vnc
	boerio 33948 0.5 1.0 1920 2704 pts/0 A 08:48:11 0:02 Xvnc :3 -desktop X -httpd /usr/local/vnc/classes -geometry 1024x768 -depth 8 -rfbwait 120000 -rfbauth /fs4/h/boerio/.vnc/passwd -rfbport 5903 -fp /usr/lib/X11/fonts/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/ibm850/ -co /usr/lib/X11/rgb

I don't believe the fonts are a problem, and I've tried using "-fp
/usr/lib/X11/fonts" to minimize the fontpath.

xauth appears to be in my path:

	pdx206 21 /fs13/comp.apps.1/vnc/bin> which xauth
	/usr/bin/X11/xauth

I tried putting "xhost +" in the xstartup file, to no avail, as you can see
from the error messages from the logfile.

I'm running the viewer from the same machine I'm running the server. That
is, both are running on the machine called pdx206. Even with different
machines, it doesn't help.

	pdx206 46 /fs13/comp.apps.1/vnc/bin> grep pdx206 /etc/hosts
	134.134.114.15 pdx206.pdx.intel.com pdx206
	pdx206 47 /fs13/comp.apps.1/vnc/bin> ypmatch pdx206 hosts
	134.134.114.15 pdx206.pdx.intel.com pdx206
	pdx206 48 /fs13/comp.apps.1/vnc/bin> grep pdx206 /etc/hosts.equiv
	pdx206.pdx.intel.com

Does anyone have some clues as to what else I can try to get this thing off
the ground?

Thanks!

     - Jeff
