Scale view size (by %)?

Is it possible (by commandline switch or option,
to reduce, by scaling, the size of the applet (when viewed by browser)?
Example:
screen resolution (in the applet) is 1024x768 (the viewed desktop).
The client machine's resolution is 800x600.
The user wants to be able to watch all of the desktop of the remote machine
without having to constantly move the scrollbar (of the browser) around.
So he need to be able to "scale" down the size around ?30-50%?
Is this possible?
If it's not possible to do with the browser client applet, is it possible with
the standalone java client instead?
