Good Day;

Sorry for just jumping in, but I have read the faqs
upside-down and somewhat backwards and a bit forward
as well, and I cannot find any reference to the
challenge in front of me.

This should be simple, but I am lame.

I am quite new to vnc, and am experimenting with
it across a mixed environment of WinPCs, Linux and
MacOS.

My drive is for my dial-up telecommuters -the bulk of which
use Windows- to be able to drive their desktops -the bulk
of which are Macs- from a java enabled browser of the
contemporary Netscape (preferred) or IE types.

On the lan, this works fine.

My dial-up server is quite simple. Modems off of multi-port
card in a linux box, proxy-arp ip allocation. Dial-up and
the lan are pretty much the same in all respects save speed.
Its a small network , <254 hosts, and using direct vncviewer
works (albeit slowly), but I have my reasons for wanting to use the browser
clients.

The error I universally get is "java app vncviewer not found" or something
to that effect. Whereas a lan based browser has no trouble.

What am I doing wrong? Is it proxy arp that is hanging java?
