Help I'm a newbie trying to use Mac VNC desktop (beta2):
I set up VNCserver at home and was able to connect to it over LAN with a PC
browser just fine. When I got back to work and tried to connect it just
didn't work right. I kept getting errors. What am I doing wrong??
Here's an example of what I get from MSIE 4.5
11/9/1999 @ 14:36:31
An exception occurred: ClassNotFoundException for vncviewer
Java Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException -
Stack Trace:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.apple.mrj.internal.awt.VFramePeer.deactivate(VFramePeer.java)
at com.apple.mrj.internal.awt.VFramePeer.dispose(VFramePeer.java)
at java.awt.Component.removeNotify(Component.java)
at java.awt.Container.removeNotify
Netscape 4.7 gives me an error as well:
Applet VNC Viewer can't start: Error: java.lang.ClassFormatError: Illegal
constant pool type
I did manage to get it to connect with the VNC Viewer app once, but it was
incredibly slow moving so I quit the app, switched to 8-bit mode and tried
to reconnect. Then I would get this error no matter what setting I used:
An Event or Error Has Occured
Connection Name: <my ip address>
Reason: Error reading protocol version Timeout
I even tried downloading the "other" VNC Viewer that the guy posted on the
archives, but it just tries to connect with no avail.
Don't know if the VNCServer crashed or what...I guess I'll find out tonight
when I get home. Regardless, I was getting the browser java error prior to
any crash that may have happened when I quit the VNCViewer. Any help or
input on the matter would be appreciated.
Thanks!
