Hello all,
I've been using a pre-compiled binary for sparc solaris 2.5 on my solaris
2.5 & 2.6 platforms with great success.
However, when I try to use that same binary on solaris 2.7 the binary run=
s
alright but whatever window mgr. I try to use seems to have problems with
the font recognition. It's not that I haven't declared the font paths, I'=
m
not a newbie, but I get the following errors:
using olwm:
--------------
[sune2:/.dt] olwm
olwm: fatal error -- Could not find any fonts to use. Exiting...
using dtwm:
--------------
Workspace Manager: failed to load font: =FE=A1:=FE=F5=FE=B0W
using xset q to see where the fonts are (this is done with Xvnc running f=
rom
within the xterm window that xstartup provides):
-------------------------------------------------------------------------=
---
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Font Path:
/usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/,/usr/o=
pen
win/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/
As you can see, it's not Xvnc that won't start, it runs, I can connect to=
it
and it is willing to run X apps like xterm or xclock e.g..
It's just (but this is crucial) that it won't start any of my beloved win=
dow
mgrs.
I presume there is an incompatibility between the fonts from different
solaris versions. I read all the Faqs & docs but there is no mention of t=
his
anywhere.
Either there is a simple solution which I would be gratefull to hear of o=
r
... can anyone please point me to a pre-compiled Solaris 2.7 binary for v=
nc.
Thanks for your replies,
Guy ( guy.zelck "at" eds.com)
