The next version of the server will "run" on a 68k machine (a Centris 650)
and you can view the finder. Running any other programs is problematic 
(i.e. they'll fall and won't get up). At the moment there are more
pressing problems (like full machine crashes when you change displays)
that need correcting.

It does and actually has quite a nice structure for porting to other
operating systems.
