Just to make sure I did it right - 

compiled VNC with gcc on Solaris 7; run vncserver on Solaris 7; connect with
win95 vncviewer; open xterm with twm.

My # key DOES work. Did I miss something?

One more thing. I also opened up an a plain old xterm, to no avail. AND I
started a vncserver using twm also to no avail. That darned # just wont
work.
