Problems with vncserver after changing IP addresses

I have been using VNC for awhile to display a Windows desktop on my Linux
machine. Now I am building a router out of spare parts, so I decided to start
using vncserver on it to use access it from my main Linux PC. This worked fine
at first, but then I added some more network cards and changed the IP
addresses. I have reset the routes and all so the two Linux PCs can ping each
other, but vncviewer won't work properly. It connects fine, but all I get is a
grey desktop in the vncviewer window; the things listed in ~/.vnc/xstartup
never become visible like they did before (rxvt and fvwm2). I suspect something
needs to be updated because of the new IPs, but I don't know what. I believe
the TCP/IP part is configured correctly, since I can ping between them, and use
samba to mount shares between them also. What is specific to vnc that needs to
be updated, some X configuration or password file?
