win98 puzzle

I recently starting using VNC. The vncviewer is dated 1-29-99. This is
on a Win98 machine which is controlling a NT SP4 machine.

I have noticed a strange effect. Oftentimes a terminal emulator screen
will paused for a long time, long after I would expect a response. If
I place a small window on top (like a very small NotePad) the response
occurs much faster. The NotePad has the focus and the VNCviewer is the
next screen down.

A second minor problem is that the terminal emulator is configured to
accept a right-CTRL as an enter key. This does not appear to be
transfered via the viewer.
