Refresh rate adjustable?

You could try adjusting the encoding technique (VNCviewer, options) - you
might see some performance differences from that.

Something else you should consider trying, and which has worked very well
for me (even over modem links!) is reducing the number of bit planes you
transfer from the server to the client. If your server is running at 24bp
then you're transferring a lot more information than you probably need. Try
reducing this to 8bp (VNCviewer, options or /8bit at command line when
starting VNCviewer) - you should experience a considerable performance
boost.

Subject: Refresh rate adjustable?

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, so please forgive me if this question has been asked before.

I'm working on a 10mb network where I use VNC to access the Windows NT
servers for remote control. So far, so good. :-)

But I'm having troubles with the screen refresh rate. Especially in multiple
choice screens (eg drop down menus) where I change my choice with the mouse,
it takes a while before my choice is highlited in blue. Sometimes 'the old
choice' keeps blue, and only moving with my mouse accross it will show it
normal.

I know it's a bit of a strange explanation, but I hope you will understand
what I mean.

I think if I could adjust the screen refreshrate to force a screen update
every x time, this problem would be solved. This won't be preffered when
using a slow link, but with a good network connection this wouldn't be a
problem.

Thanks for your replys,
Cheers,
Herman
