Arrow keys not working in DOS box on NT4.0 SP4

Title says it all really - Trying to run Novell RCONSOLE or PCONSOLE via VNC
with both client and server running NT 4.0 SP4 - the arrow keys don't work -
makes if impossible to use either of these two programs.  Anyone had similar
or should I go and FAQ off?
