Your font problem may be (1) because you haven't set the font path
correctly in the vncserver script, or (2) because Xvnc assumes it is
100dpi, and your fonts may only be available at 75dpi. You can use the
-dpi 75 argument to Xvnc to change this.
The KDE FAQ says the following about the 'Wrong charset' message:
"This is a harmless warning message. It is safe to ignore it. The way to
get around it is to refrain from starting KDE apps from a window. :-) "
