Refresh slow with VNC Viewer

Hi,

Is it possible to configure Win VNC to accelerate the refresh of the screen 
of their client.

All the computers are on the same lan segment and are is the same class ( 
school ). The teachers found this software a little slow

All the students use VNC Viewer ( Win98 ) to capture the theacher screen but 
there is a delay of a couple of seconde between what append on the screen of 
the teacher and on the screen of all the students.
