problem running vncserver on HP-UX 10.20

Hello,

We have compiled the vncserver for Hp Unix here including adding the
patch sited on the web site.  When 
we run vncserver we get the following error message:

.../vnc<815> vncserver
xauth: (argv):1:  bad display name "esg1:" in "add" command
xauth: (argv):1:  bad display name "esg1/unix:" in "add" command

New 'X' desktop is esg1:

Starting applications specified in /user/jhooper/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /user/jhooper/.vnc/esg1:.log

if I run a echo $DISPLAY it verifys esg1 as my set desktop also I have
disabled access control to this machine
any help would be very appreciated
