Mouse tracking broken with VMWare/Win98 under Linux

When using WinVNC to connect to a current version VNC server which is
running VMWare (http://www.vmware.com, fantastic product $199 commercial,
$75 personal) with Win98 booted, the mouse does not track correctly. You
always get some large delta between where VMWare/Win98 thinks the mouse is
and where VNC's virtual cursor shows it to be. I've tried a number of
adjustments with no real effect. VMWare always works perfectly on a real X
server with Linux.

In addition, I need to be able to use either Ctrl-Alt-Esc or
Ctrl-Shift-Alt-Esc to allow focus to leave VMWare and revert to the Xvnc
desktop, however this sequence always activates the start menu and any
return to the VNC window shows that the cursor is still captive to VMWare.

By the way, VMWare WOULD allow you to run multiple users with either Win98
or WinNT on the server with individual desktops via VNC, at least once these
problems are solved.

I really need to solve these problems asap...

Thanks!
